After I did my basic highlighting and contouring video I got a lot of questions about my everyday make-up. I promise that I’ll get to that. But, when I started planning that post out I realized it’s only successful if my skin looks good AND my skin only looks good if I’m following my skincare regime. So, I have to start there. It’s not overly complicated, in fact, the basics are quite simple. So, you can’t be disappointed because I warned you!
It should also be noted that good skin comes from inside as well. If I’m eating lots of veggies and drinking plenty of water that’s when it’s the ‘glowiest.’
This is my face.
If you think my skin looks good then follow these steps.
If you think it looks bad then do the opposite.
If you think it’s look alright then try these steps out and decide for yourself.
I’m going to break this up into bedtime and morning routines.
Bedtime:
Remove eye make-up! I use one cotton swab per eye and do a quick sweep. Mainly because I’m scared my eyelashes will fall out if I don’t. Irrational fears can sometimes be our friend. {I think that’s the lesson here.}
The best eye make remover I’ve used is from Vicorias Secret. It’s not oily and it doesn’t linger on your lashes making it IMPOSSIBLE to re-apply mascara. However, I believe it’s discontinued. It has been compared to the lancome remover which is what I will probably switch to when my bottle runs out. Click on the picture to buy.
Remove Face Make-up! I love make-up swipes that companies are putting out these days. I’m not a huge fan of heavy products, so these simple clothes are awesome for me! I typically use Burts Bees because I love the way they smell {like tea and jasmine} but, if that smell is too much for you, you could also try out the ones from simple which are a lot less harsh on your skin as well!
You can them here:

Moisturize! Well, I should do this every night. I try to. I do. Moisturizing is the most important part of your skincare routine and if you do nothing else, do this. I like to use simple products without a lot of joo-joo. I also don’t like to pay 50 bucks for something I’m going to use up real fast. So, I use Eucerin. It’s scentless which I like and doesn’t sit like a thick layer of gunk on the top of my skin.
Burts Bees! I put on burts bees right before bedtime. I started doing this in college. If I’m doing this on the regular, I never have chapped lips. Also, the smell of peppermint helps me get ready for bedtime.
Morning:
Wash with a Wash Clothe! That’s it. I use a wash clothe and hot water. I once read an article where Martha Stewart said, “The only exfoliant you will ever need is a rough towel.” I think that can also be applied to face washing. The only exfoliant I will ever need is a wash clothe. After scrubbing my face, it is SO FREAKIN SOFT.
I also don’t use face wash. I’ve found that if I do my face will break out. I have dry-er skin and the face wash tends to dry my face out and then I read once that it will crack and allow build-up into your pores causing break-outs. So, I stay away.
Just in case, I should say that you should use a different wash clothe everyday on your face.
{The only face wash I’ve had success with is the mary kay timewise collection. But, it’s cheaper to just use water.}
Moisturize! I moisturize again before I put my make-up on. Easy as that. It should also be noted that my moisturizer has 30 spf in it! That’s super important for the day. Make sure your moisturizer has some sort of spf. If it doesn’t, you should be putting sunscreen on your face every-single-day.
That’s it!
Tell me about your skin care routines! Any products that you LOVE!
xoxo,
Sarajane.

Love this! I need to get in the habit of using chapstick. That’s my biggest problem. Love the idea of putting it on at night before bed.
My routine is pretty simple and similar to yours, but I do use a face wash because my skin is oily-er. I use a boots botanic organic facewash (NO ACID) from target once-a-day in the evening, and then I use the same brand “day cream” (a tiny amount) to moisturize. My morning routine is just like yours though: washcloth and water! Then a touch of the day cream and I’m ready to roll. I just started this routine about 3 weeks ago and my face is finally clearing up for the first time in years.
Thanks for sharing!!
