The last few days at The 20 Somethings house have been full of uncontrollable laughter, delicious food, and stories upon stories. Our new friends Ingrid, Chris, and Joe have made our home their base for a few days in Asheville as they journey across the United States on a six month tour to “do what they love and inspire people” through music. Ingrid messaged Tyler through CouchSurfing last week, looking for a place to stay in Asheville for a few days, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to welcome some amazingly talented musicians into our home. From the moment the trio walked into the house we’ve made fast friends and can’t wait to spend more time with them!
Chris and Joe make up the music team – Chris Wilson and Planet Earth – playing acoustic tunes, with Chris on guitar and Joe on saxophone. Ingrid is the official tour photographer/videographer/blogger – telling their story as they work their way around the United States. Coming from the west coast – San Diego to be exact – our new friends have loved experiencing the pure beauty of our North Carolina mountains. Ingrid and Chris told us that they had never seen a lightning bug before their trip to the south east!
Tyler joined forces with our good friend Collyn on the first night of Ingrid, Chris, and Joe’s stay to create a Southern feast to welcome them to our little corner of the world, complete with fried okra, creamed corn, squash casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, black-eyed peas, and strawberry shortcake.
Sarajane and Tyler went out last night and listened to Chris and Joe make music for folks in downtown Asheville at Firestorm Cafe. The best way to describe their music is “soul satisfying.” The songs were full of hope, love, and pure joy. Fun guitar tunes and amazing sax solos mixed with inspiring lyrics and Chris and Joe’s humor made for an unforgettable experience. You HAVE to see them play! And, the great news is, you can! You can listen to their music online or see them live in a city near you! The duo will be on the road from now until the end of the year, so check out their tour schedule.
